House of Blues

I had to go in Downtown San Diego for a location scout and the building that I was scouting out was right next to the House of Blues (google it if you don't know what it is...).

I walked in...snapped a few pics...and left. I'll be going back there...fa shoooo!

...Another before and after series...

I decided to be a little sloppy with this image when I brought it into Photoshop....I over-exposed and pixelated the lights above the frames and that ceiling, blanket thingy to look...well...I don't know what I was going for on that. I wanted it to look not-so-perfect. I believe imperfections can make a composition much more powerful at times.

I try to hit a little bit of everything when I bring images into Photoshop. I know that one's particular "style" is very important and that you should be consistent with it...so that people can pick out your work and attach it to your name...but...I also believe it's important to be extremely versatile in styles.

I try to imitate and breathe new life into styles of as many artists as I possibly can. Hopefully, I'll develop a sick style one day.

Chopp's Arm

I needed some tattoos for this assignment I was given and I happened to be with Chopp that night. He has some dope tattoos on his arm...I photographed them...and they never ended up working out for the project.

Buuuuuuut...I knew they had the potential to be pretty sick with a little bit of post-work.

You can see the original...the edited black and white...and the edited color version.

COOOOOOOOOOOOT!

Saloon Bathroom

This little bathroom is probably one of the most interesting bathrooms. The stickers and graffiti create so much character within it.

I photographed it....this is the last photograph I took. I was shooting it with an external flash but it kept coming out wrong. So, I sat the camera down and let the shutter open....then some dude walked in the bathroom and stepped right in front of the camera. I grabbed the camera right before he stepped into frame and the shutter closed a second before that. That's why that streak exists where the toilet paper is. But, it works...I think it reflects the ghost on the wall.

Cha-Ching!

Architecture

I've never really captured architecture from behind the lens. I was out on a video shoot, taking stills for a slide show, and realized that some of the shots had some potential in the post-work.

I wanted to turn an "OK" building into something that had a better visual appearance.

This is a good Photoshop exercise. I get to bring in things that aren't there and make them look as if they've been there the whole time.

There are two images below ... one is the ORIGINAL and one is the EDITED.

Let me know what you think ... it's not done by any means. I just started and wanted to end the night on a decent composition so that you can get an idea of what I'm trying to achieve.

Comments? Ideas? Suggestions?

This page shouuuuld fill up quickly.
I have a lot of projects to post...so come back and check it out!

And also...if you have any special requests for photography, photoshop work, or what ever it may be...you can reach me @ BradleySmithPhotography@gmail.com

The photos below were taken in Encinitas, CA.

The sunset photographs came out a lot better than what I expected. I'm not one to photograph sunsets...but I had to post these.

Encinitas is such a cool place to live in...I suggest to everyone that they should visit southern California at some point in their lives. Buy a ONE-WAY ticket...you won't want to leave.

Oh yeah...the first photo is of blinds in a window.
